Parents, students, staff, and community: welcome to Kingsburg High School. My name is Fred Cogan, and I have the distinct privileges of being both Principal of KHS, and serving the community of Kingsburg.
The philosophy of education at KHS embodies the goals for leading and teaching all kids for the many challenges that lie ahead in a truly digital age known as the 21st century. Our students will face incredible opportunities for their entire lifetime, and the learning necessary to meet those challenges begins here as they train to be fully college and career ready for their lifetimes.
The entire KHS staff is committed to the highest standards of education and learning for all students through selfless, goal-oriented, teaching and collaboration with both student and colleague alike. Our curriculum is rigorous and relevant, our practices equally rigorous, and our pursuit of excellence second to none. What we ask of our students is to not look at just the four years of their lives spent at KHS, but to consider the next forty years of their lives based on what they learned while they were here. We want our students to be committed to their futures!
The education of all children reaches full circle when school staff, parents, and child(ren) work together for a complete and well-rounded education. To our students, I encourage you to take part in the many programs offered at KHS. For students, I encourage participation in any one of our students clubs like Art, California Scholarship Federation, Computer, Drama, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, or Pre-med or Pre-law clubs; or our 20 varsity sport offerings which have earned Valley Championships in Football, Volleyball, Boys’ soccer, Swimming, Boys’ Tennis, Girls’ Basketball, Boys’ Track, and Girls’ Golf; or our Academic Decathlon team, or our National Future Farmers of America Chapter. There is something for everyone at KHS and I encourage you to get involved in all you can. For parents, I encourage you to get involved in areas such as the School Site Council, the English Learner Advisory Committee, or any one of the booster clubs.
In closing, I am extremely proud of the work that our staff, students, and parents have accomplished in making KHS the learning institution it has become. While we have accomplished much, there is still much to do and I look forward to accomplishing that with you.
Please feel free to contact me at any time to discuss our program. I can be reached at 897-7721.
